Malware
Malware is malicious software designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to computer systems. Malware is the most common type of cyber-attack with over 2,200 worldwide every day, and globally they have risen by 30%. The education and research industry face the highest number of attacks at 1,636 each week. There are many different types of malwares such as adware, spyware, trojans, and worms. Adware is where an ad will be displayed that makes money off of clicks, and can make a devices performance slower, and leave the device vulnerable to other malware attacks. Another common type of malware is spyware, where a hacker secretly collects secret information from a person's device such as browsing habits, login credentials, and financial details. A final example of a malware is Trojans, it is where something harmful hides in what seems like something reliable, and once the user downloads it, it can cause things like a virus, send personal information to the hacker, and give hacker control over the device. Worms are found in things like emails, text messages, and file-sharing programs. They spread through a network, and unlike viruses, they don't require human interaction to spread, they copy themselves and replicate on their own.
